Persistence - Phillipians 3:12-16

June 1991
Persistence: Keep on going. Hebrews 12:1 -- run with patience. Paul's commitment brought Joy to him.

Persistence gives a purpose to life in the real world. "Don't worry about what others think of you. They seldom do." and "Don't take yourself too seriously -- no one else does."

Christ wants us to be in His image and has laid hold of us to make us that way. God allows problems in life to help us grow toward perfection.

The past is a prologue (preparation for the future). Get over the past! "Forgetting the things that lie behind": sorrows, failures, grudges, sin, family problems, successes (don't rest on what you have done). The issue is not how far have you come, but what's going on now. KEEP setting the memories aside.
